Captain Marvel Jr. (1952 Story Listings)

As we wind down our listing of Captain Marvel Jr. stories a couple of things become evident. One instead of decreasing in story quality some of the best Cap Jr. stories appear during this time. William Woolfolk contributes some very imaginative and mature scripts which continued to stretch the limits of the Captain Marvel Jr. formula. Captain Marvel Jr. #108-112 were completely scripted by Woolfolk. Second Bud Thompson does some of the best art of his career on Cap Jr.  Was there a sense among the editorial staff that Fawcett was going to soon pull the plug on their comics line and the editors, writers and artists wanted to go out on a high note—a blaze of glory— before the end came?
Perhaps we'll never know.
