Captain Marvel Jr. (1941-1942 Story Listings)

At this point we are interrupting the uploading of reprinted Fawcett comic stories (Captain Marvel Jr. and Master Comics). We have been doing this on a weekly basis for the last almost two years. We hope that you have enjoyed reading this stories.

Over the next several months we will be uploading a year by year listing of the Captain Marvel Jr. stories that were produced from 1941 to 1953. This listing will provide as much information regarding the writers and artist that is currently available. There are listings similar to this one already available on the internet. The Grand Comics Database (GCD) being the most prominent. This list will differ from pre-existing lists in at least two ways. While I have used information from GCD (and have contributed to it) I also disagree with some of the creator listings for specific stories. Second, I have given a ID number to each story. As you know Captain Marvel Jr. stories appeared in Master Comics, The Marvel Family and Captain Marvel Jr. and several other titles. There were any where from 2 to 5 CapJr. stories in his own title. The specific number to the stories helps to identify the story quickly and its relative position in the CMJ canon. For example, CMJ #66-345 refers to Captain Marvel Jr. #66, October 1948 and the story "Return of the Gremlins".  This makes for much easier reference than having to write out the entire issue number, month, year and story title. It also helps to ID the story in the specific issue as there were three other CapJr. stories in CMJ #66.
We will be uploading this list year by year over the next several months.

Just a note about artists: The vast majority of Captain Marvel Jr. stories were uncredited by either the artist or writer. It is likely that several different artists worked on many of these stories. For example, Bob Rogers drew the backgrounds for many Mac Raboy Captain Marvel Jr. stories. The artist credits are usually done by means of stylistic identifiers. This is somewhat subjective and certainly open for disagreement and correction. Readers of this blog please feel free to contribute your thoughts on these listings. The writer credits seem to have been taken from surviving records of the writers themselves.

The first two "Captain Marvel Jr" stories are technically Captain Marvel and Bulletman stories but since they are the origin of CapJr and his first appearance in Master Comics they are included in the Captain Marvel Jr. canon. * denotes agreement with GCD ID.
