Tom Mix helps bring down a town commercial monopoly headed up by the crooked Petigrew family. While the premise of this story is plausible several plot incidences are hard to believe. One is why wasn't Tom Mix disarmed by the crooks when he was ambushed in the Pitch Mountain Tunnel? Also why didn't young Petigrew simply shoot and kill Mix instead of going to the physically exhausting and time consuming effort of sealing him into a rock niche?
