1947 was a pivotal year in the saga of the Golden Age Captain Marvel Jr. Freddy Freeman and his newsstand was transferred to a different section of town and he had to give up his rented room. This opened the opportunity for him to move into a boarding house with a friendly and motherly landlady, Mrs Wagner. There he would meet and share adventures with Red O'Riley, a local gas station owner, Officer Bellows, a good-natured policeman and eventually Professor Edgewise an eccentric scientist and inventor. The first story with Freddy in his new location and home is in Captain Marvel Jr. #52 ("Captain Marvel Jr. Finds a Home").
