Captain Marvel Jr #85 (The Fortress of Freedom) May 1950

This is a very good story on the price of freedom and the corrupting influence of power. Freddy shows genuine concern and almost grief thinking he may have lose his friend Red O'Riley. Later Freddy waxes eloquent, "There's Red O'Riley working at his gas station just as always! It's great to be home again! I guess Red and I will work extra hard from now on to make sure our country stays a fortress--where all men can be free!" Art by Bud Thompson.

Also included here is a "Freshman Freddy" four page filler with art by Frank Bolle. Bolle went on to draw Gold Key's Doctor Solar in the 1960s.
